Chopra Asks Silicon Valley Entrepreneurs To Bring Ideas to Washington

This past Tuesday Aneesh Chopra, the first Federal CTO, spoke at the Computer History Museum to encourage Silicon Valley to bring its innovations and entrepreneurship to Washington. After some tough questions by reserved Silicon Valley attendees, including space exploration and net neutrality, Chopra’s message was generally viewed positively, according to Forbes Magazine.
Chopra spoke of the Obama Administration’s need for business entrepreneurs when launching nationwide IT projects, such as providing public access to health care records, and also noted that the White House must update the Telecommunications Act of 1996.
“We acknowledge that the underlying legislative framework was not actually designed to address the needs of today’s Internet,” said Chopra. “There is an imperative in this country now to take the time and energy to develop the right set of policies that will ensure that the Internet remains an important driver of the nation’s economy and as a platform that will improve the everyday lives of Americans.”
Chopra also spoke today at the launch of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Telehealth Network in Sacramento, California.
